Top Travel Essentials To Carry On

Danelle Sandoval

If you’re like me, you always like to keep busy when you’re taking a flight, especially if it’s a long one. Forgetting something is the worst thing that can happen when on a plane. Unfortunately you can’t jump out of it, go home, and grab your essentials. #FML right? I think the best way for me not to forget anything is to check off everything the night before. Because your check-in items are your most important, I’ve come up with an easy-to-go-through list that you are going to WANT to have.

OMG, if you don’t have headphones on your flight, it’s literally a struggle. Not only will it be extremely uncomfortable with the consistent noise of snoring, babies, and more babies, but your ears will be clogged too. Yay! Fun, right? Lets make sure you’re not bothered by ear pain or an aching headache. Include your headphones in that carry-on bag to help keep you sane with all the outside noise. Better yet, catch up on those on demand movies you’ve been dying to see.

Neck Pillow

It sounds old school, but I can assure you that a neck pillow will be your best friend. Let’s face it; the seats on a plan are not the least bit comfortable. This will save you from back pains that may result from sleeping awkwardly on the flight due to lack of sufficient neck support. I’m never able to sleep on a plane unless I have a pillow. Trust me, it’ll be the best sleep of your life.

Your Favorite Magazine

Your electronic devices will be on airplane mode and won’t have data or wifi, so it’s the perfect time to brush up on your reading skills. I like to grab my favorite issue of “Paper Magazine,” “Vogue Italia,” or “Vogue Paris” and enjoy the editorials, campaigns, interviews, and more. Best part is I end up falling asleep for the rest of the flight. Win-win.

Beauty Bag

I like to keep my full size makeup items in my checked in luggage so that I don’t have a problem with liquids at security. Carry-on items need to be used to cleanse your face and apply minimal makeup on so you don’t look like a zombie when you get off the plane. Pack your face wash, makeup wipes, exfoliator, mascara, tooth brush, and toothpaste in your carry on to ensure you’re looking fresh just in case you happen to nab a seat next to the cutie you were eyeing while waiting to board.

Travel Document Holder

I know it might not be a big deal, but it actually is. Keeping all your travel documents, credit cards, cash and photo ID’s in one case will save you so much hassle. Trust me, because the next time you’re at security and they want to see your Passport and Photo ID, tell me it wasn’t a breeze finding them after purchasing a travel holder.

Comfy Feet

If you’ve got a long flight ahead of you, I think your feet will love you if you snuggle them in a pair of slippers. No one likes the hassle of having to put on your shoes mid-flight when you have to use the restroom. Have those slippers on so you can move around easily and feel comfortable at the same time.

Portable Charger

Even on a plane, we’re still glued to our phones, whether that’s reading a book from our Bookstore App or playing games. When you’ve exhausted yourself from playing 10 rounds of Tetris, you realize your phone is about to die and you need it to work because your plane is about to land. Uh-Oh. Well thank goodness you packed that portable charger. It’s a lifesaver!

Notebook and Pen

You never know what thoughts you’ll be having when you’re 30,000 feet up in the air. You might be able to get creative with yourself, so write or draw it out. It’s also a great way to jot some ideas or inspirations down. You rarely make time to write out thoughts, because we’re so busy typing away. This is your chance to let your thoughts flow freely!
