It's 2016, and Insta models have officially been turned into real fashion muses. Kendall Jenner obviously being the queen, with her good friend Gigi Hadid now trailing BEHIND her.
The world's highest paid model, Gisele Bündchen has made more than $30 million between June 2015 and June 2016. As for Kendall, she's holding it down for social media models.
On the Forbes' annual list, Kendall ranked #3 of premiere earners just behind Adrianna Lima. Kendall has made $10 million off of campaigns with brands like Estée Lauder and Calvin Klein. Kendall has also experienced a 150% jump in earnings. On top of that, she has 65 million Instagram followers, giving her more online-clout than anyone else.
Gigi, who has just about 23 million Instagram followers, has the #5 spot on the Forbes' list, making $9 million.
Top designers claim that social media clout can't sustain real fashion brands in business, the IMG Models president Ivan Bart argues that models like Kendall and Gigi are the future of the industry.
“Models, YouTube stars, social media stars–this is their era. Models were on the cover of the last two issues of American Vogue: Gigi in August and Kendall in September.” he said.
